Education & Research

What we offer
DAS Professors
DAS Professor of Anaesthesia and Airway Management is an award conferred in recognition of a member’s national/international standing in the field of airway management as established by outstanding contributions through publications, creative work or other appropriate forms of scholarship, and through teaching and administration.
DAS Professors of Anaesthesia and Airway Management have been awarded since 2012.
DAS Research
The importance of research and collaborative academia to understand, inform, and improve clinical practice in airway management has been highlighted time and again throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
DAS continues to support academic anaesthesia through bi-annual Large and Small Project Grants awarded via the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (NIAA) and by direct applications for small funding support for planned airway-related research.
DAS Approved Courses
DAS has been at the forefront of airway training in the UK. There are a number of high quality courses organised around the country that are aimed from the novice trainees all the way to airway trainers. While most of these courses are organised by airway enthusiasts who are DAS members, DAS is not directly involved with these courses.
Courses and workshops meeting our standards may be formally acknowledged by way of an application and award of a badge of recognition – the ‘DAS endorsed courses and workshops’ logo and be eligible for advertisement on our website.
