DAS are pleased to support a number of prizes and awards for exceptional contribution and achievement to the field of airway management. Listed below are the current awards and prizes offered.
The DAS Macewen Medal is a prestigious mark of excellence awarded to a member for contribution to the society and airway management. It has been awarded yearly at the Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting since 2009.
The DAS Professor of Anaesthesia and Airway Management is awarded in recognition of a member’s national and/or international standing in the field of airway management, as established by outstanding contributions through publications, creative work or other appropriate forms of scholarship, and through teaching and administration. DAS Professors of Anaesthesia and Airway Management have been awarded since 2012.
This was introduced in 2025 to honour one of our key founders, Adrian Pearce, a Consultant Anaesthetist at Guy’s Hospital. It is awarded to members for disseminating the art and science of airway management.
DAS is delighted to announce the Difficult Airway Society Fellow (DAS Fellow) award. This award recognises and rewards contributions of DAS members to the field of airway management, DAS and the specialty through education, research, clinical leadership and societal involvement.
