Adrian Pearce Award – Nominations Open

Dr Adrian Pearce

DAS are very happy to announce the inception of a new annual award – the Adrian Pearce Award for disseminating the art and science of airway management. This is to honour one of our key founders, Adrian Pearce, a consultant anaesthetist at Guy’s hospital for many decades where he practiced skilled airway management but always with an eye for improving safety in anaesthesia.

He was one of the authors of the seminal 2004 DAS Intubation Guidelines and served as DAS President from 1999 – 2002. He also has the distinction of setting up the first DAS website and the DAS Newsletter. He has now retired from active clinical work and lives comfortably on the South Coast with his wife Nicola. Luckily for us he still attends airway meetings, inspiring and advising!

Adrian is the recipient of the 2009 DAS Medal in recognition for his phenomenal contribution to airway management and the Difficult Airway Society.

So this new award has been inspired and defined by Adrian. What we’d like is for members to nominate a Consultant / SAS they think is deserving of this award. There are no prerequisites for the award other than someone who embodies a zeal and passion for airway management.

Nominations to the Secretary please ([email protected]) by 1st November 2024 so that we can give the very first AP Award at the London DAS ASM November 29-29 https://www.das2024.co.uk

Kind Regards,

Dr Ravi Bhagrath (DAS Honorary Secretary)
