To provide training in common equipment, techniques and decision-making for managing the difficult airway, for anaesthetists in training and anyone seeking to improve or refresh their skills in this field.

Topics include: oral and nasal fibreoptic techniques including exchange catheters; videolaryngoscopy; FONA; paediatric airway; shared airway techniques; simulated scenarios including obstetrics and tracheostomy trouble-shooting; surgeon's persepctive on the difficult airway; case discussion including decision making and human factors aspects.

 

Anticipated learning outcomes of the event:

Learn a variety of practical techniques for managing expected and unexpected difficult airways.

Understand the techniques available for managing the difficult paediatric airway.

 

Discuss the role of human factors in decision-making in difficult airway cases.
