Dr Barry McGuire

I am a Consultant Anaesthetist at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee, having trained in Scotland and Australia. I have particular interest in anaesthesia for head and neck surgery, advanced airway management, paediatric anaesthesia, major trauma care and critical incident reporting. In 2009, I was chairman of the organising committee for the DAS ASM held in Perth and followed this by establishing the Scottish Airway Group. In 2015, I became DAS Honorary Secretary and in 2018 was part of the group that brought the DAS ASM back to Scotland in Edinburgh. I have published on a variety of topics within airway management and have spoken and taught on airways around the world.  I am also involved locally as a lead in Major Trauma Care and nationally within anaesthetic morbidity and mortality reporting. However, I am ashamed to say that my real passion involves two (self-powered) wheels.
